Hello!

My name is Chris Misch-Bloxdorf, and I’m one of the instructors at UP Music. I’m looking forward to helping your students explore and discover their own love for music!

My Story

What was your first experience in music?
My first experience in music is probably singing in the school choir.
However, I’m sure a lot of my love for music initially came from video game
music. I have great memories of playing Mario and Zelda with my Godmother
growing up and I think a lot of that music made a great impact on me.

What instruments do you play, and which one is your primary expertise?
I play a little bit of piano, bass, guitar and drums, but my main
instrument is trombone and a general focus in brass instruments.

Have you performed professionally or collaborated with any notable musicians or
ensembles?

I have been fortunate enough to have a lot of opportunities to perform
professionally. Some of my most memorable performances include working
with Thee Sacred Souls, Hannibal Buress (Eshe Tune), Metroboomin, Roddy
Ricch, Kurt Elling, Bobby McFerrin, The Walters, and a bunch of other
fantastic artists and musicians.

Can you share any success stories or testimonials from your previous students?
I have had a variety of students go on to prestigious music schools
such as Berklee, Manhattan School of Music and Northwestern University.

If money was no option, what dream vacation would you go on?
If money were no option, I would most likely do an extended stay in
either Brazil or Japan. Mostly to learn more in depth about their musical and
cultural traditions!

What do you do when you’re not teaching?
When I’m not teaching I spend a lot of time working on my music or
other collaborative projects. Outside of that, I really enjoy nature and love
camping. In the cold months though you
