In many of the wind instruments (flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, etc), air continuously leaks through instrument holes or bells. These instrument garments help contain excess aerosol and act as a mask for the instrument.
Flutes, clarinets, and saxophones need to be completely covered to contain the amount of aerosol since there are many ways air particles can be released throughout the instrument keyholes. Each individual garment will cover the entire body of the instrument while still allowing the flutist to still insert their hands to play.
Brass (trumpet, trombone, baritone) instruments only have one area in which air particles can be released and that is the bell (end of the instrument). Each individual garment will cover and hug the bell of the instrument while still allowing for sound be produced.
*For UP Music students, band instrument garments are required if you have in-person lessons/rehearsals.
